The quirky fairytale-themed adventure park just 2 hours from the UK
FANS of classic fairytales should check out a unique adventure park in Norway, just a two-hour plane ride from the UK.
The little-known Norwegian theme park is often overlooked by other more well-known destinations across Europe like Disneyland Paris, Parc Asterix and Puy du Fou.
Hunderfossen is home to more than 60 different rides and attractions and is particularly good for young children.
One of the theme park's main attractions is The Hunderfossen troll - a giant 70-tonne troll that hides the entrance to one of the rides.
According to the legends, the Hunderfossen troll was petrified by the sun as he sat down in his thoughts.

The entrance to Ivo Caprino’s fairytale cave is hidden between the troll's legs.
Inside the cave, park-goers will be able to learn about fairy tales and Norwegian heritage.
There's also the Fairytale Castle where visitors are transported on a journey through Norwegian folk tales.
Other fairytale-themed rides include the Fairytale Ship (a swing ride) and the Trolldrop.
There are also several water rides at the Norwegian theme park, including Hunderfossen Rafting.
On the artificial river, visitors are invited onto a 500m journey past geysers and waterfalls.
There's also a water park with a pool area, a water slide and lots of water toys for younger park-goers to enjoy.
Other attractions include a go-karting circuit, a high ropes course and a tractor track.
Entry tickets to the theme park cost 529,00 Norwegian Kr (£39) per person.
Hunderfossen theme park is a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Oslo.
Ryanair operates direct flights from the UK to Oslo, with prices starting from £15 for a one-way ticket.
Flights from London to Oslo take one hour and 55 minutes.
Hunderfossen Theme Park is set to reopen on March 25, 2024, for its summer season.
Other nearby attractions include Hunderfossen Children’s Farm and the Norwegian Road Museum.
Elsewhere, theme park fans are looking forward to some exciting new experiences opening in the UK.
Minifigure Speedway, Legoland
Work is underway on a brand new ride at Legoland, set to open this year.
The Minifigure Speedway will be the world’s first LEGO-themed duelling rollercoaster.
Passengers will go both forwards and backwards, as well as race between the Team Legends and Allstars, led by a Minifigure captain.
Shockwave, Drayton Manor
Staffordshire’s second-favourite theme park, Drayton Manor, will be converting the current Shockwave rollercoaster into a new "family thrill coaster" in 2024.
The park’s managing director, Victoria Lynn, said that it would be a departure from the resort’s focus on attractions for children, and could even be seen as one of the best rides in the country.

"Drop tower ride," Adventure Island
Southend's Adventure Island has revealed plans for a new ride opening next year.
An official opening date for the un-named attraction hasn't been revealed yet, but it is expected to be launched this year.
Five new water attractions opening in the UK next year
