Ex BBC News presenter reveals she’s already working at rival channel just TWO days after tearful final show
FORMER BBC News presenter Alex Lovell revealed that she’s getting stuck into her new job at rival channel ITV, just two days after quitting.
On Monday, Alex, 50, shared a career update from her new workplace – ITV Studios.
She took to X, formerly Twitter, yesterday to announce her new job at the rival broadcaster.
Alongside a snap of herself in front of the ITV logo, Alex wrote: “Look at me!!! Back to working full time.
She continued: “First day in my new job at ITV West Country and everyone’s being SO lovely!
“I have a lot of ‘induction’ stuff and paperwork to do, but will keep you in the loop!”

In a follow up post, Alex shared a picture of herself and colleague Seb Choudhury looking happy to be in the studio. “Look who’s just arrived at work!” she said, tagging her new workplace ITV West Country.
Alex wasted no time making the switch from BBC to ITV, and now her Twitter bio reads “Newsreader ITV West Country pending!”
The announcement came just two days after Alex bid farewell to BBC Points North during her final show on Saturday. She fought back tears as she said goodbye to the Beeb.
Alex worked on the BBC News show for 18 years.
Addressing the audience during her final show, she explained: “It’s time for me to say goodbye - hashtag not crying - this has been my last programme for BBC Points West.
“And I wanted to say we have been through a lot over the past 18 years, haven’t we? It has been an absolute joy to spend that time with you, even through the hardest times.
“I just wanted to say that those of you that ever come up to as some of you sometimes do and say things like ‘we really feel like we know you,’ that is truly the greatest compliment that I could ever receive and it’s been an absolute privilege.”
Alex then went on to thank her colleagues, before she was interrupted by her co-star David Garmston, who brought her a large bouquet of flowers.
Thanking him, she said “You’re my tele husband and one of my best friends, I love you.”
As she teared up, David got hold of her hand and said: “I just want to thank you, from the BBC, from the viewers and from me, for everything you’ve done over the last 18 years.
“It’s been amazing. You’re as lovely off screen as you are on and we’re really going to miss you.”
