I shop for my interior design clients at HomeGoods – items I love in the kitchen section, just avoid a 2017 decor trend

AN interior designer has shared her favorite HomeGoods pieces for her clients.

While many of the items in the kitchen section caught her eye, she warned viewers to steer clear of a dated homeware decor trend.

Ana (@staged.by.ana) shared the interior design advice in a viral TikTok video.

As she hunted for pieces for clients' homes, she gave viewers tips on what to look for versus what to avoid.

Ana browsed through the kitchen aisle, picking out colorful drinkware, glassware, and cutting boards.

In the next aisle, she urged viewers to pick up placemats at the store if they ever need them.

She praised HomeGoods' variety of placemat prints and textures for indoor and outdoor tables, as well as the affordable prices.

Many of the decorative sets of four cost just $15.

DECOR TO AVOID

When it came to decor to avoid, Ana was adamant about her stance on word signs.

"Things to avoid at HomeGoods is the tchotchke kitchen decor," she said, holding up a large "Gather" sign.

"You guys are going to hate me, but you know I hate my words. It's outdated, it's circa 2017, please don't get this and put it in your kitchen."

Her hatred of words on decor applies to plates and bowls as well.

Ana ventured over to the dishware section, she explained that she prefers solid bowls and plates over versions with words on them.

Another furnishing ick for the interior designer is holiday decor and Moscow Mule mugs.

She laughed as she browsed through a section of Easter-themed blankets, explaining that the purchase would only "cheapen" your space.

Instead, she recommended home decorators opt for something timeless and add Easter eggs as temporary props.

For smaller pieces, Ana advised buying pitchers with muted tones and avoiding brassy items like bronze candlestick holders.
