ALL flights have been suspended at Glasgow Airport due to heavy snow as flurries blanket Britain.

Much of the country is warned to expect a freezing cold snap today with conditions plunging to a harsh minus 8C.

Scotland has experienced heavy snow fall in parts over the last few days with temperatures dropping to minus 10C in parts on Friday night.

Now, one of the country's main airports has put a stop to all flights departing and arriving.

Glasgow airport said while their team has worked through the night prepping for the cold snap, they have experienced "heavier than forecast snow".

A spokesperson said: "Flight operations are currently suspended due to heavier than forecast snow.

"Our winter teams have been working through the night and we hope to resume operations as soon as possible.

"Please check with your airline for further flight updates."
