Big hearted Coronation Street star Simon Gregson starts popular new side hustle as he faces £100k tax bill
BIG-hearted Coronation Street star Simon Gregson is acting as a guide on the soap set, as he faces a £100,000 tax bill.
The Steve McDonald actor — on a £150,000 salary — is paid a fee to show fans around.
The £55-a-head Coronation Street Experience includes a visit to the Rovers Return Inn and Roy’s Rolls café, with several stars making an appearance.
The Experience recently posted an Instagram picture of Simon, 49, laughing with fans outside the fictional Weatherfield Police Station.
It was captioned: “What a lovely guy Simon Gregson was when he joined us last week. Were you one of the lucky ones who got to meet him?”
A source said: “Simon is such a popular and lovely guy. He’s perfect to show fans around because he’s so down-to-earth.”

Other actors on the tours include Sally Dynevor (Sally Metcalfe) and Sam Aston, (Chesney Winter-Brown)
Last month it was revealed that Simon was offering office furniture and £6,000 in cash in a bid to pay debts to HMRC.
In November, The Sun reported Simon Gregson Productions Ltd had gone bust and he had called in the liquidators.
Accountants combing through the failed business found very little in assets to offset the debts — and only £6,000 in cash at the time it ceased trading.
Simon has appeared in more than 3,600 episodes since his 1989 soap debut.
He is understood to have got £250,000 as runner-up on 2021’s I’m A Celebrity.
Simon said he did it because the money was good and “it was enough to get me out of trouble”, comparing the fee to a “solid gold diamond goblet”.
He was approached for comment.
