Sources said the Chief Executive-in-Council approved the companies’ proposed fare increases on Tuesday.
The decision means Citybus can raise commuter fees by 7.5 per cent, while New Lantao Bus and KMB can increase their fares by 6.5 per cent and 4.3 per cent, respectively.
The new fares will take effect on January 5 of next year.
