  • More on Ratcliffe takeover

Sir Jim Ratcliffe's takeover includes a further investment worth £238million into Manchester United's infrastructure.

As well as buying Class B shares held by the Glazer family, the announcement confirmed Ratcliffe would offer to acquire up to 25 per cent of all Class A shares at a price of £26 per share.

Sir Jim also has the first option to buy more Class B shares from the Glazers, should they decide to sell more.

The American family will be retaining a majority stake in the club.

  • Sir Jim purchase confirmed

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has completed a deal to buy a minority stake at Manchester United.

Ratcliffe has completed a 27.7 per cent takeover of United worth about £1.2billion.

Sir Jim's INEOS will take control of football operations at Old Trafford.

The company obtained approval last week from the Football Association as well as the Premier League following the completion of the owners' and directors' test (OADT).

  • Financial Fair Play troubles?

Manchester United have been warned that they could be forced into a summer firesale because of Financial Fair Play restrictions.

Investor Sir Jim Ratcliffe could see his summer transfer budget hindered by United's past heavy spending in the market.

Over the last three summer transfer windows, the Red Devils have spent over £550million on new talent.

This expenditure has left the Manchester giants with little "financial headroom" as there has been little incoming from player sales.

Man Utd's summer budget could be further impacted should the club fail to finish in the top four and miss out on the £40m extra in prize money.

  • Saha’s Arsenal title prediction

Manchester United hero Louis Saha believes Arsenal have less chances of winning the Premier League title than Liverpool and Manchester City because of their lack of depth.

    Saha told Paddy Power:

Arsenal have more answers [to oppositions defences] than they’ve had in previous weeks, but it doesn’t change the problem they have with
    depth if they get injuries.

They’ve not got the same depth as Liverpool or Manchester City and that’s the only thing that might make Arsenal play with a bit of fear towards the end of the season, especially with the players who experienced what happened last year [with their injuries].

I doubt whether they can catch up to the level of mental stability [of Man City and Liverpool].

I’m not saying that they’re weak, just that where Man City and Liverpool stand – they have what it takes, both quality and depth wise, and I don’t think Arsenal, or Tottenham have that. When two or three players aren’t there, it’s very difficult.

  • Boxing cross over

Paulie Malignaggi has backed Manchester United heroes Wayne Rooney, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku for a move into boxing.

    Malignaggi told Lord Ping:

I don't think it's a bad idea, Wayne was always a physical forward like a Christian Vieri type.

I think Rooney has the physicality and the skills, he was a very strong and a tremendous athlete.

He's a big boxing fan, when I met him he knew who I was, which threw me off. I'm interested in him boxing.

There are certain guys in football who might be able to do some fighting; Wayne Rooney, Romelu Lukaku, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, I'm on board with it.

  • Dan Ashworth's first signing?

Manchester United could snap up £60million-rated Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi if Dan Ashworth is appointed as the club's sporting director in time.

Newcastle chief Ashworth has asked to leave St James' Park after an approach by new United part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

New Palace manager Oliver Glasner is already facing a battle to hold on to the club’s leading players this summer.

Having succeeded Roy Hodgson, Glasner wants to lift the Eagles away from the relegation zone, with the club just five points above third-from-bottom Luton Town.

But the Red Devils plan to steal one of Palace's key men in Guehi but this is only likely to happen if Ashworth, whose current deal at Newcastle does not end until 2026, is appointed to the board at Old Trafford by the summer transfer window.

  • Michael Olise transfer war

Juventus are interested in signing Crystal Palace star Michael Olise in the summer.

Olise was the subject of a bid by Chelsea last year, while Manchester United have also shown an interest ahead of the summer transfer window.

Juve, however, believe that they may have found a way to trump United in the race for the winger's signature.

According to the Telegraph, the Bianconeri could offer Matias Soule, who is on loan at Frosinone, in part-exchange for the Frenchman.

  • Neto transfer blow

Wolves manager Gary O’Neill is determined to keep hold of Manchester United target Pedro Neto beyond the summer transfer window.

I have been asked a few times about the summer already.

I am not interested in discussing Pedro Neto leaving the football club.

He is a fantastic player that we spent a lot of money on and have worked very hard on.

As far as I am concerned we do not want to lose our best players.

We have a long way to go yet this season and hopefully he stays with us.

  • Up in the air

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand made an announcement onboard his Ryanair flight to Portugal after being trolled by Arsenal fans.

Gooners chanted “Saka’s world class” towards Ferdinand on board the flight after the TNT Sports pundit claimed Bukayo Saka is “not world class yet”, despite his impressive performances this season.

The legendary England defender was able to see the funny side as he headed to Portugal for the Gunners’ Champions League clash with Porto.

The 45-year-old shared a clip of himself making the announcement to X, formerly Twitter, writing: “Interesting @Ryanair flight with the Arsenal fans this morning…

“@BukayoSaka87 is top levels… no doubt! And will become ‘world class’.”

Hello guys, I just want to say it’s been an absolute pleasure to have you Arsenal fans.

I must say, Saka is a fantastic player, just not world class yet. He will be one day but just not yet.

  • Saha on Casemiro

Manchester United hero Louis Saha hit back at Casemiro's critics as he insists he still has the legs for the Premier League.

    Saha told Paddy Power:

Casemiro is not too old for the Premier League. Journalists are really on his back, maybe because Manchester United’s style of play hasn’t been quite right.

Since last season, he’s been asked to do too much, and he still managed to do it. He was getting more goals, and I don’t think he got many goals at Real Madrid, but he’s taken on a bit more responsibility at United.

He’s trying to press and win the ball higher up the pitch which has been difficult for him. People will talk about whether he has the legs for it, and yes, he’s older than he was three years ago but he's still a terrific player.

When he recovers the ball, his first or second touch will always be into the strikers’ feet or to Bruno Fernandes to start the counterattack.

Those elements are crucial and especially when he’s playing with young boys alongside him, it’s very important.

People tend to focus on Manchester
United more than anyone else and it used to be Cristiano Ronaldo but now it’s Casemiro because he’s a top player who has won the Champions League. The attention is always more aggressive on these types of players, and I think that’s unfair.

  • Barcelona financial crisis

Barcelona's crisis situation looks set to go from bad to worse after the club were told by LaLiga they will need to slash their salary bill by a staggering £57million.

Big names who have been linked with the exit door include but are not limited to Frenkie de Jong, Robert Lewandowski, Gavi, Raphinha, Ronald Araujo and Pedri.

De Jong was linked with a summer departure to Manchester United two years ago before the move fell flat due to his lack of stomach for a move.

However, recent reports suggest the 26-year-old has changed his tune and is now open to an Old Trafford move.

With the midfielder's contract up in 2026, Barca still have £65m to amortise when considering the transfer fee they paid to Ajax and the remaining value on his contract.

So if the Manchester giants come calling again they will smell a chance to make some money back, though the Netherlands international is also said to be settled in Spain.

  • Solskjaer linked with Bayern

Manchester United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been lined up with a managerial return at Bayern Munich.

Solskjaer has been linked as a potential replacement for under-fire Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel, who finds himself under immense pressure at the Allianz Arena following three defeats in a row.

According to Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, the reigning German champions are weighing up a stunning move for the Nowegian tactician to take over as interim coach.

And SunSport understands the ex-United boss is indeed being eyed by the Bavarians.

Bayern are unlikely to sack Tuchel before the end of the season, but Solskjaer is in contention should results fail to improve and they pull the trigger.

  • Greenwood not coming back

Mason Greenwood will not return to Manchester United at the end of his loan to Getafe.

According to Sport 1, Greenwood will look for another club in June following his legal troubles.

That was after a six-month internal investigation at Old Trafford over charges of attempted rape, assault and coercive control.

The charges were dropped but the Manchester giants opted against having him in Erik ten Hag's squad this season.

The Red Devils hope to get £34million for the forward ahead of a summer sale.

Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are both said to be interested in the former England international.

  • Man Utd target Juventus star

Manchester United want to sign Juventus star Gleison Bremer this summer after monitoring him for several months.

According to Calciomercato, United are "preparing an assault" to sign Bremer who signed a four-and-a-half year contract extension with in December.

However, Juve are prepared to let the centre-back leave for the right price.

The Bianconeri want around £60million for the Brazil international and they have made that clear to the Red Devils.

United manager Erik ten Hag sees the 26-year-old as the "most suitable" candidate for his team..

He said: “Kobbie Mainoo has to be in the next England squad.

“Such maturity in chaotic conditions that we haven’t seen from an England player in a long time.

“I’m impressed every time I watch him.”

  • De Jong to partner Mainoo?

Man Utd favourite Dwight Yorke dreams of seeing Kobbie Mainoo partnered with Frenkie De Jong next season.

He told Gambling Zone: “Frenkie de Jong to mentor Mainoo? I think that’d be a good combination as he’s suited to Man United’s midfield. If he were to come, it’d be a nice youthful balance there.

“I’m not sure how old De Jong is but I think he’d give us that X-factor that we need in midfield and a little bit of creativity, which he’s capable of doing, as well as adding legs in midfield.

“He ticks all the boxes and I think the combination of him and Mainoo would be a fabulous one to look forward to next season.”

  • Ashworth 'not short-term solution'

John Barnes reckons Man Utd will have to be patient before seeing results from impending new chief Dan Ashworth.

He told BonusCodeBets: “For the long term of Manchester United, it’s very important for Manchester United but I don’t think hiring Ashworth will change things overnight for them.

“As things stand United still have the same players and it’s not as if Ashworth will be coaching them.

“Ashworth is a long term hiring for the future of Manchester United from a structural perspective.

“Things won’t change this season but it’s a long term plan for the club which is promising.”

  • Rasmus gets RVP advice

Rasmus Hojlund reportedly met with Robin van Persie for tips on how to become a great Manchester United striker.

The £72million summer signing has finally hit a hot streak following a barren period.

And the Mail claims Hojlund has Van Persie to thank following a 30 minute meeting with the Premier League winner.

Hojlund has also sought advice from Champions League winner Benni McCarthy, who now works as a coach at United.

  • Potential Bayern XI under Ole

Should Solskjaer take charge at Bayern Munich, he would surely look to add even more Premier League stars to their squad.

The Germans already boast Harry Kane and Eric Dier among their ranks.

And Solskjaer could be tempted to raid former club Man United for reinforcements.

Is this how Bayern will look under the Norwegian?

  • Solskjaer in line for Bayern

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is being lined up as a sensational replacement for Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich.

Tuchel finds himself under immense pressure at the Allianz Arena following three defeats in a row.

Sky Sport Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg was first to claim Bayern are weighing up a stunning move for Solskjaer to take over as interim boss.

And SunSport understands the legendary Manchester United striker - and somewhat underwhelming boss - is indeed being eyed by the German giants.

Bayern remain unlikely to sack Tuchel before the end of the season, but Solskjaer is in contention should results fail to improve and they pull the trigger.

  • World Cup winner passes away

Germany legend Andreas Brehme has died at the age of 63.

The former Bayern Munich and Inter Milan defender reportedly suffered cardiac arrest.

Brehme is an icon in his homeland after winning the World Cup in 1990.

He scored the winning penalty against Argentina to seal victory and also finished third in the Ballon d’Or that year.

  • Hannibal decision questioned by press

Spanish media have leaped to the defence of Hannibal Mejbri at Sevilla.

The midfielder has featured just three times since his loan from Man United for a total of 36 minutes.

And Estado Deportivo has now questioned Quique Sanchez Flores after saying Hannibal performed well in the weekend draw at Valencia.

However, it seems highly unlikely Sevilla will be making his loan permanent.

  • Bruce eyes new role

Former Man United star Steve Bruce is being lined up for a new managerial role.

The three-time Premier League and FA Cup winner with United has been out of work for 18 months following his sacking by West Brom.
