About OJ Simpson
After being selected in the 1969 NFL Draft, Simpson, a distinguished football player, spent 11 seasons in the league, mostly with the Buffalo Bills.
The outstanding running back, whose real name is Orenthal James Simspons, became a dominant force in the NFL very quickly, winning league MVP in 1973.
Despite Simpson's remarkable performances and awards, the Bills only made it to the postseason once while he was a member of the team and never made it to the Super Bowl.
Before the 1978 season officially began, the Bills traded their star running back to the San Francisco 49ers, his hometown team.
After spending two seasons with the 49ers, Simpson announced his retirement in December 1979.
