Hong Kong police arrest 55 in 3-day crackdown on triad-controlled businesses in Tuen Mun

Hong Kong police have rounded up 55 people in a three-day operation against triad-controlled drug, gambling and sex businesses in Tuen Mun.

The force said on Friday that four of the suspects were rounded up in two public housing flats in the Tuen Mun district that were allegedly used for producing and storing illegal drugs during the operation, code-named “Fastship”, that began on Tuesday.

Senior Inspector Ma Ching-ho of the Tuen Mun district’s anti-triad squad said officers seized about 1.2kg (2.6lbs) of what appeared to be cocaine, 200 e-cigarette capsules containing suspected cannabidiol, and 2.8 litres of suspected cannabidiol in the two premises.

He said the seized narcotics had an estimated street value of HK$950,000 (US$121,900) in total.

Acting Superintendent Wong Lung, a Tuen Mun divisional commander, said police discovered flats in old buildings in the district being used as unlicensed massage parlours.
