Wedding guest asks people if her dress is appropriate to wear to pal’s big day and people say she needs to ‘do better’

WHEN it comes to wedding attire, there is one easy rule that guests typically have to follow - don’t wear white.

One woman was on the fence as to whether her wedding outfit was appropriate and asked people for their advice, and they didn’t hold back in the comments.

She wrote on Reddit: “Is this dress too white/cream for a wedding guest?

“I was going to wear it to one earlier this month but decided against it. What do you think?”

The woman shared a photo of herself wearing the dress as she stood next to a man.

The strappy dress looked to be a light colour but had a few floral features in the design.

More on weddings

Most people said she should avoid wearing the dress to the wedding at all costs.

One wrote: “I think it’s about 92% white so yes too white.”

Another agreed: “There isn’t much on that dress that isn’t white.”

And a third commented: “wayyyyy too white.”

Some people took issue with not only the colour, but the design too.

A Reddit user added: “It’s too white, but more importantly, you can do better.

“The way your bra is visible in the top and the tiny little straps… how tight it is in the ruching along your rib cage… It’s just not that flattering.

“You deserve a dress that makes you look and feel your very best.”

And one complimented the dress choice, but said it would be too distracting.

They said: “I imagine this is what someone might wear if they used to date the groom, and the groom left that someone for the bride.

“Bc in all sincerity, if you wear that dress, which is otherwise beautiful, no one is going to be looking at the bride.”

The wedding guest was grateful for all the advice, and wrote a reply explaining her final decision.

She revealed: “I’m really glad I didn’t wear this dress to the wedding!

“Thanks for all of the feedback, I suppose this dress is for dates only.”

We previously shared how a wedding planner was fed up after noticing that four women showed up to a ceremony wearing white-hued dresses.

Her annoyance was so great that she couldn’t bite her tongue.

Wedding planner Cari Izaguirre (@cari.izaguirre) said there is no reason for a guest to ever show up wearing the same colour as the bride.

Speaking about etiquette, she said in the clip: “You do not wear white to a wedding. Or a light ivory. You just don’t do it.”

Standing outside of a reception she organised, she said there were four people sporting looks that crossed the line.
