‘Dreamy’ quilted jacket that perfect for spring has shoppers travelling hours across the country to nab one

QUILTED jackets are the summertime essential this year, with reversible styles being a particular hit for fashion fans.

A quick scroll on your social media feeds will throw up some of the designs - but Brits think they’ve found the ultimate one in Next

So much so, that one shopper even claims she “drove over an hour away” to nab the “viral” coat.

The style is characterised by fabric stitched together in a series of square or diamond-shaped patterns.

The quilted stitching helps to distribute the insulation evenly throughout the jacket, preventing it from bunching up or shifting.

Next’s Navy Blue Quilted Floral Jacket will set you back £68 - but many shoppers think it’s so worth the investment.

Bosses at the British fashion giant assured that “this one was definitely worth the wait”, adding: “She is the moment.”

“Perfect as a spring and summer outer layer, this quilted jacket is cut to a boxy fit with a reversible blue and white floral graphic design,” they said.

“It has a button-down fastening and a tall collar, finished with dropped shoulders.”

It is composed of 100% cotton on the outer and backing, with the wadding inside being 100% polyester.

Fashionistas took to social media to dub the Navy Blue Quilted Floral Jacket “dreamy” and “gorgeous”.

“I need,” Caitlin Golder gushed.

“We love her!” Yasmin Langthorne added.

However, Lisa McColl encouraged some shoppers to wait before forking out nearly £70 for a coat.

“It’ll be in the Christmas sales,” she suggested.

Earlier this month, Fabulous’ fashion team unearthed another Next jacket that’s set to dominate trends this spring.

How to Pick the Best Travelling Outfit

Deputy Fashion Editor Abby McHale says: “When it comes to deciding on what to wear to the airport a number of factors need to be taken into consideration.

“What the weather is like in the countries you’re travelling from and to, how long your flight is (as comfort is key) and how much luggage you are bringing with you.

“If you’re going from one climate to another then you’ll want to make sure you have layers, plus this may be your only option if you don’t have lots of space in your luggage.

“A light jacket over a t-shirt with a thin scarf or jumper in your bag in case the plane is cold would work.

“Also don’t forget your sunglasses, although the hot burst of air is lovely as you step off the plane, you’ll need your sunnies in your handbag.

“Bottom wise go for something loose and comfortable, there are so many lovely pairs of wide leg elasticated trousers around at the moment, look for fabrics such as linen that are nice and light for a stylish yet comfy look.

“Finishing off with accessories, trainers are the most practical option, however flat sandals can also look lovely (just pop a pair of socks in your handbag for the plane), and a high cross body bag is perfect for keeping all your important documents near to you.”

The trench coat is the perfect transitional piece - it's a perennial wardrobe staple for a reason - but this season, it's been chopped in half.

Now the temperature is a bit warmer outside, we've consigned our winter coats to the back of our wardrobe.

But we also know a British downpour could well be on the way - making the return of the (cropped) mac a good choice to see you into summer.
