5 people injured after Hong Kong taxi, bus collide outside tunnel on Lantau Island

Five people were injured after a taxi and a single-deck bus collided outside a tunnel on Hong Kong’s Lantau Island on Wednesday, forcing authorities to close the route to traffic.

Police said emergency personnel headed to the scene at the Tung Chung-bound exit of Discovery Bay Tunnel on Cheung Tung Road after the incident was reported at 1.18pm.

A police spokesman said the cab driver and his passenger had to be freed from the taxi, while three bus passengers were also among the injured.
