My loo was so dark & cold – but I gave it a brand new look for under £100 with B&M bargains and people all ‘love it’

Before the epic transformation, Dina described the sorry state of the bathroom as ''dark and cold'', lacking any character and charm.

But with a few days to herself, the thrifty woman gave herself a challenge - to revamp the black flooring and give the unwelcoming loo a new look without spending a fortune.

''Had a week off. And I decided to change little bit my bathroom - I hated it, was dark and cold,'' Dina told the fellow members of the DIY On A Budget Official page.

To achieve this, the money-smart homeowner first tackled the existing tile-look floors before replacing the vinyl with a net set she'd nabbed from the home goods retailer, B&M.

''With my own hand peeled of old vinyl and put new one, bath panel with new sticker tiles, both from B&M (spent less than 100£ included some tools),'' she explained the process from start to finish in her post.

The funky peel-and-stick tiles retail for £42 for a 2m x 2m tile that's totally foolproof to apply - even if you've only just embarked on your DIY journey.

Those looking for a cheaper alternative can also check out other brands, such as the online giant Temu and Amazon where you can find similar products for a fraction of the price.

Whilst sprucing up gloomy space, Dina also gave a lick of paint for the cabinet in a gorgeous dark grey hue.

To stick with the grey theme, the Harlow resident also got a grey bath matt, as well as a handy grey basket to keep the essentials alove the toilet.

'' It looks fresh, light and inviting. So happy and proud of myself,'' Dina was all chuffed with the final results.

My council house bathroom was a state and smelt of wee so I gave it a makeover with a £14 B&M buy and it 'looks fantastic'

The revamp has clearly impressed many, as the post has racked up close to a staggering 500 likes in less than 24 hours.

Dozens of amazed social media users raced to comments to share their thoughts, with many praising Dina for her craft.

One couldn't believe the difference, writing: ''Looks lovely, so much better.''

Someone else chimed in: ''Well done lovely, you've done a fantastic job.''

How to do your council house up on the cheap

  • Take inspiration from pricier shops and head to B&M, Home Bargains for interior decorations.
  • Head to YouTube for easy to follow tutorials on how to decorate rather than paying for professionals.
  • For a quick glow-up for your floors or anywhere with tiles, opt for stick-on vinyl to save on costs.
  • A lick of paint does wonders to make a room feel brand-new.
  • Switch out kitchen cupboard knobs for modern ones instead of buying brand-new cupboards

A third was a fan of the makeover - but advised Dina to get rid of one of the new elements in her bathroom.

''Lovely, I would not have the mats though so you get full benefit of the lovely floor.

''We have it in bathroom and had a mat and not only did it hide the floor it also marked it so got rid.''

''Love the flooring and wall colour,'' a Facebook user penned.
