Wednesday's episode of the BBC show saw crew members Jodie and Tom called out to a fast food restaurant where a woman had gone into labour.

The lady had no idea she was pregnant, adding further drama to proceedings, and the crew requested back up.

Thankfully, the baby was born safe and healthily before mother and newborn were transferred to the hospital for follow up care in separate ambulances.

Later in the episode, the pair were called out on a category one to a person who was unconscious and not breathing.

The person had a history with weapons and the crew were urged to approach with caution.

The advice proved valuable as the patient did become aggressive, prompting a call for police back up before eventually getting him into the ambulance and on the way to hospital.

Viewers were blown away by the scenes they saw and what the crews have to go through.

Taking to social media, one wrote: "So powerful a show on BBC One. Our ambulance team must get more appreciation for the great work they do, day after day, night after night."

Another added: "The ambulance drivers, the teachers, the nurses, the support staff in schools- those on the ground. We’re the ones who can’t sleep at night doubting if we could have done ‘more’. I highly doubt our government is tossing and turning like us! Or wiping silent tears."

A third commented: "Gosh, the poor lost souls of Manchester are making me cry (again) #Ambulance."

Meanwhile a fourth shared: "In absolute awe of what you people do, absolute heroes every one of you. #bbc #ambulance is a phenomenal insight into the front line of our emergency services.

"Give them all pay rises now, they are just the best humanity has to offer."

Ambulance airs Wednesdays at 9pm on BBC One and is available on BBC iPlayer.
