Usain Bolt won the 200m and 100m at the Olympics in London and Rio, and Lyles was hoping to do the same.

Lyles, 27, had collected one gold medal having won the 100m final on Sunday.

He won the event by just 0.05 seconds after a photo finish was needed to separate him and Jamaica's Kishane Thompson.

But it was not to be in the 200m as Botwanan athlete Letsile Tebogo took home the gold.

Lyles collapsed to the floor after the race in disbelief at coming third.

He was taken out of the arena in a wheelchair, while his team-mate Kenneth Bednarek won the silver medal.

It was then confirmed by USA Track and Field that Lyle was suffering from Covid, having tested positive.

He was later pictured in wearing a face mask to protect his fellow athletes.
