Dr. Raja, founder of Derma Aesthetics London, has over a decade of experience in the dermatology and aesthetics field.

He shared with The U.S. Sun his go-to picks for hair growth and measures to conceal sparse spots and thinning areas.

PERSONAL PICKS

There are several budget-friendly products available that can promote hair growth effectively.

He said that one of the most popular options is castor oil, which is known for its ability to strengthen hair and stimulate growth.

"Another affordable choice is coconut oil, which not only nourishes the scalp but also prevents hair breakage," he added.

Rosemary oil is also an essential choice and has been shown to improve cellular generation.

"Research has indicated that it can be as effective as minoxidil, a common hair growth treatment, in promoting hair growth," the expert explained.

Dr. Raja also said that peppermint oil increases blood circulation to the scalp, which can stimulate hair follicles and promote hair growth.

If oils aren't your thing, he suggested biotin supplements, which are often available at low prices and can also support hair growth from the inside out.

Quick and Affordable Hair Thickening Tips

MUST-KNOW METHODS

"To disguise thin hair and create the appearance of fuller locks, there are several effective strategies," Dr. Raja said.

One approach is to use volumizing shampoos and conditioners that add body and lift to the hair.

"Using shampoos and conditioners that are free from sulfates and parabens can improve hair health and encourage growth," he said.

He also recommended styling products like mousses and root-lifting sprays because they also enhance volume.

Another idea is to opt for a shorter haircut, like a bob or layered style, which can make hair look thicker.

Additionally, hair fibers or powders can be used to fill in sparse areas and create the illusion of density.

When it comes to styling, Dr. Raja recommended blow-drying hair upside down, and using a round brush to style it.

This technique can add volume and movement to make thin tresses appear much fuller than they are.

FOLLICLE FACTORS

Hair thinning can result from a variety of factors.

According to Dr. Raja, one common cause is genetics, which can "predispose individuals to conditions like male or female pattern baldness."

He added that hormonal imbalances, potentially caused by thyroid issues or menopause, can also lead to thinning.

Poor nutrition, particularly deficiencies in vitamins and minerals like iron, vitamin D, and B vitamins, can affect hair health.

Stress is another significant factor, as it can disrupt the growth cycle.

Lastly, Dr. Raka cautioned against excessive use of heat-styling tools, chemical treatments, and wearing tight hairstyles.
