My sister accused me of trying to upstage her at her own wedding – I didn’t see a problem, my grandma says she’s jealous
A BRIDEZILLA took her sibling rivalry to the extreme over what her sister wore on the big day.
The wedding guest ended up leaving early over the dress that she chose to wear.
In a Reddit post, the bride's sister offered some context to the situation.
The unnamed poster explained that she wasn't particularly close to her sibling but still made the journey to her wedding "despite living a decent bit away from each other."
She revealed that her sister had given guests clear instructions on the dress code.
As the ceremony was "a mix between a Pakistani wedding and a Western-style," the bride asked her attendees not to wear white or red.
The Redditor said she had "the perfect dress in mind" that she had worn to a previous family wedding.
"It was a tan, though very clearly not white, dress that just reached the floor, which clearly contrasted the bride's ornate gown," she explained.
After the ceremony, the bride's sister approached her and her new husband to congratulate them.
She described her confusion when the bride "acted somewhat cold" to her.
The bride wasted no time informing her sister why she was so upset with her.
"My sister tells me that she doesn't approve of my dress and that it looked too much like a bridal dress," the original poster explained.
"I asked her what was wrong about it as it fits the requirements she had set for the dresses worn and looked nothing like a bride's gown or her bridesmaids."
The bride revealed that she felt like her sister was trying to take the spotlight on her big day.
"She told me that it looked as if I was attempting to upstage her at her own wedding with my dress of choice," the woman said.
Hoping to avoid making a scene, she decided to leave quietly with her boyfriend.
However, on the way out her parents and grandparents stopped her to ask what had happened.
My mother and grandfather agreed that it looked like I was trying to be too showy.
The sister of the bride
When she explained the situation her family was conflicted about whose side to take.
"My mother and grandfather agreed that it looked like I was trying to be too showy at the wedding whereas my father and grandmother agreed with me that it wasn't too fancy of a dress," she said.
She added that her father and grandmother guessed that her sister was jealous of how she looked.
Reddit users shared their thoughts on the situation in the comments section.
"It doesn’t sound like you did it on purpose and more importantly, it doesn’t sound like the dress was too obviously like a bridal gown," pointed out one reader.

"You met the requirements and when she had a hissy fit, you left quietly. Bridezillas gonna ‘zilla," said another commenter.
"You didn't encroach on the colors, you probably only looked fabulous, that's all," wrote a third person.
