I tried everything to get rid of patio weeds & killed them with a 3-ingredient super spray & they haven’t grown back

AS THE days are getting longer and temperature is climb, you may be thinking of venturing outside to do a spot of gardening.

If you've been neglecting the garden over icy cold winter months, you may have noticed that pesky weeds have begun to grow.

Gardening fans have been raving about a super cheap weed busting method, that will ensure your garden stays permanently weed free.

Posting in the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook group, one user asked: "What's the best way to get rid of weeds and make sure they don't grow back".

The post was flooded with helpful replies from avid gardeners.

Many people suggested using a mixture of salt, white vinegar and washing up liquid.

One user said: "I use one part white vinegar, two parts water and salt.

"It worked a treat on my weeds, plus it's kind to animals".

Another person added: "Salt white vinegar and fairy liquid is the best! I have tried everything over the years so do not waste your money on anything else."

A third user said: "I was playing about with different ingredients to get rid of some of my weeds.

"The first concoction I tried didn’t work but the second one did.

"I used water, salt and a dash of washing up liquid.

"I sliced the weeds so they were as flat as my slabs and saturated the weeds with it hoping it would work, and it did.

"It takes a while for them to die off but they’ve never come back.

This method is a super cheap way of killing weeds, as all of the components can be bought for around 50p each from the supermarket.

Salt is a great natural alternative to toxic weedkiller.

It works by increasing the levels on ions in the soil and increasing osmotic pressure, which means the weeds will be unable to absorb water and will dry out.

White vinegar works in a similar way, as the acidity of it breaks down cell walls and removes moisture from weeds.

Washing up liquid does not work on its own to kill weeds but improves the effectiveness of the formula by holding the salt and the vinegar on the weeds.
