  • Taylor Fritz on comeback trail

American star Taylor Fritz could be about to complete a sensational comeback from two sets down!

The 13th seed trailed Alexander Zverev 6-4 7-6 on Centre Court.

He has come roaring back, however, winning the following two sets 6-4 7-6.

He now lead Zverev 3-1 in the fifth, leaving the German on the ropes.

  • Former Wimbledon champion gives birth

Petra Kvitova has become a mother aged 34.

The 2011 and 2014 Wimbledon champion has announced that she yesterday gave birth to a baby boy named Petr.

Kvitova was last in action at the China Open last October, and reached the fourth round of Wimbledon 12 months ago.

  • Ostapenko sails through

What a performance that was from Ostapenko.

She continues her scintillating form at this year's Wimbledon by crushing Putintseva 6-2 6-3 in just 68 minutes.

Ostapenko has dropped just 15 games in four matches at an average of 61 minutes per match. Wow.

  • Alex de Minaur through!

Ninth seed Alex de Minaur fought off a spirited Arthur Fils fightback to win in four sets on No1 Court.

The Aussie, 25, booked his first ever quarter-final berth at Wimbledon by beating Fils 6-2 6-4 4-6 6-3.

He will take on Novak Djokovic or Holger Rune in the quarter-finals.

  • Not done yet!

Wow! Arthur Fils has produced an electrifying spell of tennis to take the third set of his clash with Alex de Minaur!

The Frenchman had seemed virtually down and out, when he trailed by two sets and a break.

But he has battled back from the brink, conjuring a series of thumping ground strokes that even the scrambling De Minaur couldn't get back.

The Aussie still leads 6-2 6-4 4-6... but the momentum is with Fils.

Ninth seed De Minaur has left the court to take a bathroom break.

  • Elina Svitolina wins through

Ukrainian Elina Svitolina has beaten China's Wang Xinyu 6-2 6-1 to advance to the quarter-finals.

The 21st seed dominated throughout against Harriet Dart's conqueror.

She will now face Elena Rybakina in the quarter-finals.

  • Kalinskaya retires on Centre Court

Anna Kalinskaya has retired down 6-3 3-0 to Elena Rybakina on Centre Court.

The 17th seed started well against the 2022 champion, before being hampered by a physical issue.

Rybakina will now advance to the quarter-finals, where she will meet either Elina Svitolina or Wang Xinyu.

  • Katie Boulter watches on

British No1 Katie Boulter will be happy with what she's seen so far on No1 Court.

Her man leads Arthur Fils 6-2 6-4 1-1... and looks destined to reach his first Wimbledon quarter-final.

  • Rybakina and De Minaur boosts

Elena Rybakina has won the first set of her fourth round battle with Anna Kalinskaya 6-3 on Centre Court.

The 2022 champion has now broken in the opening game of the second to take a commanding lead.

Over on No1 Court, Alex de Minaur is now cruising in a 6-2 6-4 lead against Arthur Fils.

The Frenchman has provided moments of excitement, but has otherwise been too erratic.

On No2 Court, Elina Svitolina leads Harriet Dart's conqueror Wang Xinyu 4-1.

  • Around the grounds latest

Favourite for the women's title Elena Rybakina has recovered from an early break down to lead Anna Kalinskaya 4-3 in the first set of their match on Centre Court.

Over on No1 Court, Alex de Minaur leads Arthur Fils 6-2 3-3, and has levelled the second set from a break down.

Meanwhile, Elina Svitolina and Wang Xinyu have arrived on No2 Court for their fourth round battle.

  • First set De Minaur

Alex de Minaur has taken the first set 6-2 against Frenchman Arthur Fils on No1 Court.

You could sense the crowd were ready to get behind Fils at any opportunity, but De Minaur stayed incredibly consistent to deny his wonderkid opponent.

Can Fils clamber back into this contest?

  • Centre Court ready for action

Elena Rybakina and Anna Kalinskaya are ready to get underway over on Centre Court.

Former champion Rybakina is playing on Centre for the first time in this tournament, despite winning the title here two years ago.

Kalinskaya, meanwhile, will be cheered on by boyfriend Jannik Sinner, who has a day off today.

  • De Minaur off to flyer

Alex de Minaur has profited on a nervy start by Arthur Fils to lead 3-0 and a double break on No1 Court.

The Aussie ninth seed is looking to book a first quarter-final berth at Wimbledon.

Should he win today, he will book a last eight clash with either Novak Djokovic or Holger Rune.

  • Lorenzo Musetti through to QFs

Italian star Lorenzo Musetti has beaten lucky loser Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard 4-6 6-3 6-3 6-2 to book a place in his first ever Grand Slam quarter-final.

The Queen's finalist recovered from a set down to the big-serving birthday boy in order to advance before the anticipated rain.

He will next play the winner of Taylor Fritz's Centre Court battle with Alexander Zverev.

  • Boulter supporting De Minaur

Katie Boulter has taken her seat in No1 Court to cheer on boyfriend Alex de Minaur.

The British No1 suffered a heartbreaking second round defeat to compatriot Harriet Dart last week.

She is seemingly in good spirits today as she looks to cheer on De Minaur to his first ever Wimbledon quarter-final.

Boulter is sat next to fellow British player Jodie Burrage, who was unfortunately ruled out of Wimbledon a few weeks ago with an ankle injury.

  • Madison Keys update

American star Madison Keys has updated fans after having to retire from her fourth round clash with Jasmine Paolini yesterday.

She wrote on social media: "Well... the ending of yesterday's match was probably one of my toughest moments ever on court.

"Unfortunately during the match, I injured my hamstring. I'll be getting an MRI soon to see exactly what happened and what the severity of the injury is.

"I have a lot of mixed emotions that my Wimbledon ended like this and really appreciate all the nice messages I've gotten.

"Time to go home and get better."

  • Around the grounds latest

Lorenzo Musetti has taken a two sets to one lead over birthday boy Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard over on No2 Court.

The Italian is just one set away from his first ever Grand Slam quarter-final, leading 4-6 6-3 6-3.

He will be looking to get the job done as soon as possible, with the prospect of rain still looming.

We are set to get underway shortly under the roof on No1 Court, with Alex de Minaur taking on Mpetshi Perricard's fellow exciting youth Frenchman Arthur Fils.

The players are set to emerge in around 10 minutes time.

  • Tennis chiefs approve rule change

The ATP Tour have approved a rule change allowing players to ask ball kids to hand them towels during matches.

Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, the sight of ball kids having to give players their sweaty towels between points was a common one.

As hygiene measures were tightened amid Covid measures, players were forced to go and get their own towels.

With tennis chiefs eager to decrease time between points, however, the rule is now set to revert back.

Tennis reporter Jon Wertheim wrote on social media this morning: "Notice to prospective ballkids…From the @atptour recent meetings:
"Board approved a rule change to permit players to request and be handed towels between points, as was customary before the Covid-19 pandemic.

"All ATP tournaments must accommodate this provision. This rule change will take effect starting after Wimbledon."

  • Marathon man on doubles withdrawals

Ben Shelton refused to pull out of his men's doubles clash alongside Mackenzie McDonald yesterday... despite having played 18 sets of singles already.

The marathon man, 21, returned to court after being beaten by Jannik Sinner, in order to resume his doubles first round that had been held overnight.

Asked about whether he considered withdrawing, the American said: "I definitely wouldn't go back on it. I wouldn't pull out.

"I think that it's a lot more important who you are and how you treat the people around you, how you treat your friends.

"And I'm playing with somebody who is a friend, who waited four days for me to play doubles together. I'm not just going to pull out on him last second.

"I made the commitment to sign up for the tournament, so I think that it was important for me that I saw it through.

"Maybe in the future at certain tournaments I won't sign up for the doubles, but if I sign up, I'm not going to pull out."

  • Stars are in the house

As usual, the stars are out to watch the tennis at Wimbledon.

Today, actress Kaya Scodelario is already here to catch the best of the action.

  • Ready... play!

We are all set to get underway on the outside courts!

Over on No2 Court, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard is taking on recent Queen's finalist Lorenzo Musetti for a place in the quarter-finals.

Lucky loser Mpetshi Perricard is celebrating his 21st birthday... and would love no gift more than reaching the last eight.

  • Good morning from Wimbledon

Morning all and welcome to SW19 for day eight of the 2024 Championships.

We've been heavily hit by rain in recent days, and a gloomy dark cloud above suggests that we may be in some similar today.

Thankfully for now it is dry, and hopefully the outside courts will be able to get going at 11am, which has felt like a rarity during this tournament.
