Strictly in fresh ‘overmarking’ fix row as fans accuse judges of ‘ruining the whole show’

STRICTLY Come Dancing fans are less than impressed with recent scores.

Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin performed an American Smooth to It's Oh So Quiet By singer Björk on Saturday - but their dancing skills have sparked criticism from viewers.

The pair looked amazing as they rocked colourful outfits and twirled around the dance-floor to the song.

Their performance seemed to impress the judges and although they did receive some words of wisdom for improvement from the judges, they won an amazing 34 points.

Viewers weren't so convinced though, with many flocking to social media to react.

They even accused the judges of "over-marking" and therefore "ruining" the show.

One wrote: "Oh come off it, that was the worst dance of the night actually but will be horribly overmarked."

A second agreed: "Layton was overmarked tonight."

A third added: "Layton was overmarked. Starting the night with over-marking always means the rest goes to pot! Comments for Nigel were better but he got lower scores."

A fourth stated: "Layton overmarked that time, wouldn't have ever gone higher than a 7. Only the first time overmarked though tbh."

Others didn't agree though and one penned about the star: "The quality and entertainment he brings to the show can't be denied, all the celebrities are good, but for me, it's Layton I enjoy watching."

Ultimately, the pair ended up in the bottom two with Angela Scanlon, but they were saved by the judges.

Meanwhile, the show has equally been accused of undermarking.

EastEnders star Nigel Harman performed a rumba on Saturday's show with Katya Jones, which received good comments from the judges.

However, it only gained a score of 33, which fans felt was too low.

Taking to X to discuss the result, one person wrote: “So Layton gets criticised and scores 34, Nigel hardly gets any criticism but only scores 33? Make it make sense. Why do they ALWAYS under mark Nigel, it’s getting beyond a joke now.”
