During episode two of the first series, Stacey and her cleaning crew headed to Wembley, North London, to help parents Bijal and Darshan.

The parents-of-two were in a desperate need to part with their possessions and transform their home into a clutter-free area - and the cleaning sensation, Stacey, was there to guide the process.

The mum-of-five said: "Bijal and Darshan both say they really struggle to let go of absolutely anything, and it’s starting to take over their life."

Bijal explained: "Over the years, every time we have got more stuff rather than reducing it we have just brought more furniture to hide it in."

As the team tackled the messy home, fellow cleaning whizz Iwan Carrington shared a "convenient and cheap" hack for removing stubborn adhesive marks.

Showing the sticky stains lining the window frame, the pro said: "This has gone quite crunchy, so I think I want to break it back by softening it with something."

But instead of using common cleaning products, Iwan grabbed a popular condiment - a bottle of mayo - and applied a "good dollop" to the marks.

The reason this somewhat bonkers trick works is because mayonnaise contains vinegar, which is made of acetic acid - a chemical compound that breaks down dirt.

"This has got plenty of vinegar in it and it’s the vinegar that will do the trick," Iwan noted.

According to Today’s Homeowner, the creamy condiment is also an effective DIY treatment for tackling water stains on wood furniture.

The site explained: "The fat from the egg yolks and oil penetrates into the finish and replaces the moisture from the water stain.

''Meanwhile, the mild acidity from the vinegar helps break down the stain."

For the cheap hack, it's advised that the mayo is left to sit on the stain overnight, and you can then simply wipe it away with a clean cloth the following day.

This is not the only budget-friendly cleaning hack the whizz shared with the viewers of the programme - how to banish any unpleasant odours and loosen up any food that’s stuck inside a microwave.

This easy peasy trick involves microwaving lemon water, as the cleaning pro quipped: "That’s going to create a nice microwave sauna and make it all lovely inside. It smells so much better already."

Using a cleaning cloth, Iwan then gave the microwave plate a good wipe with the homemade concoction.

Running low on mayo? Foodies - and cleaning enthusiasts - can bag this condiment from supermarkets, such as Lidl and Aldi for 95p, while lemon can be purchased for as little as 16p.
