  • Littler warning

Michael van Gerwen has warned Luke Littler his way of thinking will change as a result of his success.

The Dutchman told the Daily Mail: "I was the same age as him [when I started], my problem was in my time we didn't have social media. We only had MSN. I'm a bit older - I could be his dad.

"He's gonna face a lot of new things as well. He has a new girlfriend. He still lives with his mum and dad.

"He's gonna make steps in his life - that will change his way of thinking. Right now, the only thing he has to care about is darts.

"For me, the first thing I worry about is my own kids, my wife, and then comes darts."

  • Humphries suggests format change

Luke Humphries has suggested a radical format change for Premier League Darts.

The world number one was beaten in the final of this year's competition by Luke Littler.

Humphries told SportsBoom: "It's my first year so I can't sit here and say I don't like it because I can't really have that opinion yet.

"I actually had a good suggestion that maybe they could do a league format where everyone plays each other once for the ten players.

"So, nine games we play each other once, then two get relegated and then go to the league mini-tournament format back to what we're doing now.

"It could work like the FedEx Cup, you’d have the first phase with ten players, and then start again with the different format for phase two, with the person who won topped the table starting on eight points, and so on, if you finish top you see the rewards."

  • Wright on Littler

Peter Wright says Luke Littler has forced the top players to “get their fingers out”.

The double world champion is currently preparing for the US Darts Masters at The Theater in Madison Square Garden on Friday.

But Wright, 54, said he was blown away watching Littler land the Premier League title a week ago.

I really enjoyed it. It was good to see such a massive crowd. It was brilliant to watch the No.1 and No.2 in the Premier League finish at the top in the final.

It just goes to show that both of them were good enough to come into the Premier League. That’s why they ended up in the final.

That makes all the other players who were in it get their fingers out now.

Michael van Gerwen looked very tired to be honest in the last couple of weeks leading up to it. Michael Smith was just not quite on it. But it was a great final.

  • Luke Humpries' engagement

Luke Humphries, who faces Canadian David Cameron in the first round of the US Darts Masters, proposed to Kayley on Thursday on the highest outdoor sky deck in New York on the 100th storey.

It has been in the planning for the last three to four months to propose to my girlfriend Kayley. It has been a lot of planning behind the scenes, trying not to let her notice about it.

It is one of her favourite cities and it is the first time she has been here. I wanted to propose. I wanted to do it somewhere special. Somewhere that she loved.

And what better way to do it than this amazing building, the Edge, and she was really, really pleased. She said yes which was the main thing.

It’s something that I wanted to do for a long time but it is finding the right time, the right moments. She’s the mother of my son Rowan as well.

It was the perfect time for me. Whatever happens this weekend, of course, i would love to win. But that was the main thing for me, to enjoy our week away that we have not had since Rowan was born.
For me to be able to propose to her was a magical moment.
