‘I should pack my job in’ people say as single mum shares how she spends £2K benefit payments, including £200 takeaways

A MUM has been slammed after sharing what she spend her £2,323 Universal Credit Payment on for the month.

The single mum-of-two took to social media to break down why she received so much money in benefits.

In the clip, she said: "This is a screen recording of my Universal Credit journal and how I spend just over £2,000 a month."

The video saw her journal which showed an average of £2,100 entering her bank account every month.

Her first large purchase was rent which came to £650 a month along with gas and electric at £150.

The mum also spent £100 on TV and internet, £40 on her phone bill and contents cover for £15 a month.

But that's not all, she also revealed she spends at least £400 on groceries per month for herself and her two kids, while spending £200 a month on takeaways.

"I also have takeaways and eat out quite a bit," she explained.

"I know I need to cut down on that."

Her car and insurance for it came to £550 as well.

She also revealed that she spent £100 on activities to do with her kids as well as £100 on clothing throughout the month.

In total this equalled to £2,305 leaving her with just under £20 leftover from her £2,323 payment.

The clip has since gone viral on TikTok and sparked controversy in the commets.

While some understood why the mum got monetary help others were raging they worked full-time and still took home less cash than the mum.

One person wrote: "I was on u/c for when I needed it after a divorce split and needed to put a roof over my son’s head. I work 22.5 hours hand 2 and now worse off by miles but it’s there for emergencies only…"

Another commented: "Ignore the haters! I get it all the time. I’m the same as you in what I receive as a single mum of two from UC (this is including a disabled child element for one.) then £858 from work, £170 CB."

"I get £2,585 a month on UC. £1,200 a month more than when I was on tax credits," penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: "How is it possible that people on UC get the same income as a band 5 nurse with 8 years+ experience?"

"I really should pack my job in,” claimed a fifth.
