Florida’s absurd guidance on measles

The Feb. 24 news article about Florida Surgeon General Joseph A. Ladapo failing to urge parents to vaccinate their kids against measles and calling for halting the use of mRNA coronavirus vaccines, “Florida surgeon general defies experts amid measles outbreak,” angered and saddened me. Sixty-seven years ago, I lost my brother in part because my parents refused medical treatment for him because of their religious beliefs. Yes, vaccines have risks. But to deny the overwhelming evidence of their lifesaving value to sustain the “right” to be willfully ignorant or politically correct is beyond contempt.
