Kate will be hiding behind sofa – I love winding people up, says Gary Goldsmith as he enters Celebrity Big Brother house

KATE Middleton will be hiding behind the sofa, says uncle Gary Goldsmith as he enters the Celebrity Big Brother house.

The "black sheep" of the Middleton family appeared on the nation's screens tonight after negotiating a hefty contract with ITV show bosses.

While in the world's most surveillance-filled gaff, Gary is said to be ready to spill royal secrets, it is claimed.

Fears about what the 58-year-old could reveal while in the house are already heightened after he previously scorned Harry and Meghan following the release of Spare.

The royals and Middleton family were said to be terrified when The Sun revealed in January that he was in the reboot of the reality show, which launched tonight on ITV1.

As he pulled up in a flash CBB car on Monday night, he waved excitedly to viewers as he donned a white turtle neck, white blazer and black trousers.

Once he got up to the steps, Gary said the family would probably be watching from "behind a sofa".

Presenter AJ Odudu asked him: "The nation needs to know, will Kate be watching?"

Gary said: "If she is it will be behind a sofa, I guess."

AJ asked which sofa and Gary replied: "It will be a nice one, in a nice house."

Gary also joked "winding people up is probably my favourite hobby" as he entered the house.

Despite concerns over him entering the house, Gary insists he hates the stress that’s already been placed on his family, in particular his sister and Kate - and won't be adding to it.

Gary Goldsmith infuriates Kate Middleton’s parents by signing up to Celebrity Big Brother, with insiders revealing Carole and Michael read him the riot act before he went into hiding

Gary exclusively told The Sun: “I’ve spoken to Carole just to send my love and we talked about Kate given what’s going on.

“There’s lots going on in the family moment. So she’s spinning a lot of plates right now, it’s quite stressful.

"So the last thing I’m going to do is bring any stress to them.”

Kate was seen for the first time since her hospital operation on Monday.

The Princess of Wales was in the passenger seat as mum Carole, 69, drove her in an Audi near Windsor Castle on Monday.

She was wearing sunglasses and appeared to be smiling slightly in her first sighting since her abdominal operation.

Despite Gary’s reassurances, he admits he can understand why his relatives might be nervous about him going on the show.

Particularly some of the secrets that might come out during the long, monotonous and sometimes drunken nights when he’s getting grilled by fellow housemates.

He said: “I think they [the family] could always really trust me to know that I’m going to play the game well.

“I think she [Carole] will probably be watching me from behind the sofa, slightly anxious, but I do think if the best version that Gary turns up, she’d be very proud of me - that’s what we were hoping for!

“I have a self-destruct mode though, and my mouth runs away with me.
