I got a call from Postcode Lottery & my heart was pounding ready to accept millions – then I realised crushing mistake
A PUNTER thought they had won millions after getting a call from the Postcode Lottery - before realising they'd made a crushing mistake.
The player had thought lotto bosses only rang people up if they won a "large prize".
So when they picked up the phone to a caller from Postcode Lottery, they assumed they had scooped a cash jackpot.
But it turned out the Postcode Lottery had far less happy news to reveal.
Posting on Reddit, the player said: "I remember when I signed up they said they only ever call you if you've won a large prize."
They added: "I got a call from them. My heart was pounding with excitement.

"But then they told me they were ringing as my direct debit had been declined."
Postcode Lottery winners are notified by email, text, letter or phone call depending on which prize they've scooped.
If you win a Street Prize or get lucky in the weekly £1m prize or monthly Postcode Millions, lotto bosses will ring or write to you.
Winnings are usually paid into punters' accounts within 28 days of the prize draw.
Postcode Lottery players sign up their postcode and pay £12 per month.
Subscribers are then automatically entered into each draw and then prizes are announced each day of the month.
A portion cent of the ticket price also goes to charities supported by the Postcode Lottery.
