The school was put on immediate lockdown this afternoon with multiple people inside the building, and cops stationed in the area for safety.

West Mercia Police spokesperson said cops were called to the scene following a report that a man was in possession of what was believed to be a knife.

There were reports a police helicopter seen circling the area, near Holmer Road, at the time of the incident.

Searches were made in the area but no one was located and the lockdown has since been lifted.

The spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Holmer Road in Hereford at around 3.10pm today, following a report that a man was in possession of what was believed to be a knife.

"Searches and enquiries in the area have been carried out and no one has been located.

"No threats were made to any members of the public.

"Police will remain in the area and anyone with concerns is encouraged to speak to an officer."

The threat occurred ahead of a concert in which the youngsters were supposed to participate in this evening.
