I’m addicted to Vinted – hilarious parcel I received is the best one ever, it’s an A for effort

A VINTED superfan has revealed the best parcel she's ever received - and it's all thanks to the creative packaging it came in.

Over the years, much like eBay and Depop, Vinted has become all the rage for bargain-hunting fashionistas who are on the lookout for pre-loved wardrobe items to slash the costs.

And some sellers aim to maximise their profits as much as possible by avoiding buying postage bags.

Not only did one seller admit to posting her items in food boxes, but one buyer received her purchase in a nappy.

And makeup artist Carla Kent, from Glasgow, has now given a seller an "A for effort" thanks to their hilarious packaging choice.

In a clip showing off her Vinted haul, she said: "I’ve got a confession to make. My name’s Carla Kent and I’m addicted to Vinted."

Seconds later, Carla holds up a Magnum ice cream box as she adds: "Let’s start with the best Vinted parcel I’ve ever received.

"Might be my favourite to be honest, simply because of the packaging.

"A for effort. Honestly, love this."

And while the packaging was definitelt recycled, Carla's purchase inside was a black kimono from PrettyLittleThing that was brand new with tags.

"Most of the stuff I find on Vinted is always with tags and always so cheap", she added.

Carla's Vinted experience comes after Royal Mail workers left people in hysterics as they revealed the shocking ways people send their online parcels.

I've made almost £300 on Vinted in two weeks thanks to a game changing phrase in my descriptions… it’s worked every time

So if you’ve ever ordered something second-hand online, whether it’s from Depop or Vinted, and were left baffled as to how it arrived, prepare to be even more surprised.

Posting on the official Royal Mail TikTok account, the posties shared never-seen-before footage from the Hackney sorting office.

The employees penned: “Tell us you’ve sold something online, without telling us you’ve sold something online.”

They then shared a series of snaps inspired by the parcels they have had to deliver.

One parcel was being sent in an egg carton while another was in a jacket potato box.

And if you thought that was funny, there’s even a parcel that was sent in a water bottle.

New Vinted rules to be aware of

IF you fancy clearing out your wardrobe and getting rid of your old stuff on Vinted, you’ll need to consider the new rules that recently came into play.

If people are selling personal items for less than they paid new (which is generally the case for second-hand sales), there is no impact on tax.

However, since January 1, digital platforms, including eBay, Airbnb, Etsy, Amazon and Vinted, must share seller information with HMRC as part of a crackdown.

You're unlikely to be affected if you only sell a handful of second-hand items online each year - generally, only business sellers trading for profit might need to pay tax.

A tax-free allowance of £1,000 has been in place since 2017 for business sellers trading for profit - the only time that an individual personal item might be taxable is if it sells for more than £6,000 and there is a profit from the sale.

However, firms now have to pass on your data to HMRC if you sell 30 or more items a year or earn over £1,700.

It is part of a wider tax crackdown to help ensure that those who boost their income via side hustles pay up what they owe.

While your data won't be shared with HMRC if you earn between £1,000 and £1,700, you'll still need to pay tax as normal.
