Kicking things off, the BBC's Call The Midwife will return to screens on Sunday 7th January at 8pm on BBC One.

The period drama's stars recently shared details on their 'complex' upcoming Christmas special family dilemma.

The 2023 Christmas special will air on BBC One on Christmas Day

Stephen McGann, who plays Dr Patrick Turner, has revealed that the children in his TV family growing up will make this year’s festive instalment even more “wonderful”.

The Turner children on Call the Midwife have all grown up from babies, and Timothy is following in his father's footsteps by studying medicine.

One of the storylines in the Christmas special will focus on May, whose adoption has never been finalised by Dr Turner and Shelagh.

Fans will have a tough choice on Sunday, January 7th at 8pm as the popular ITV drama, Vera, will also be hitting screens, coinciding with the airing of Call The Midwife.

The team of detectives from Vera will reunite for the last time and solve their last murder together during the special Christmas episode.

Brenda Blethyn recently teased heartbreaking scenes in the show's first-ever festive episode as she bids farewell to a beloved co-star.

In March, Kenny announced that he had decided to leave Vera, admitting it was a very "difficult" choice.

BBC's Silent Witness will also be making it's comeback on Monday 8th & Tuesday 9th January at 9pm, with it's 27th season.

It was announced recently that the BBC is making a string of big changes to Silent Witness ahead of the new series.

Executive Producer Jayne Chard revealed they had gone with a "different vision" for the show's aesthetic.

She felt The Lyle had looked "inconsistent" and so the colour of the walls and corridors have been changed to rectify that.

It comes after a retired dentist is suing the BBC, claiming it ripped off her ideas to use on Silent Witness.

Fans weren't too happy with some of the beloved dramas clashing, and took to X/Twitter to share their thoughts.

One complained: "Why clash good dramas at the same time. ITV plus one it is then!"

A second added: "Not too thrilled that two amazing dramas are clashing!"

A third penned: "Same old every year."
