Former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit told DisCasino: “Liverpool have enough quality in their squad to go all the way, but their biggest problem is themselves.
“If Liverpool can hold on to their motivation, then I have no doubt they’ll be champions at the end of the season.
“The return of the Champions League could provide a bit of trickiness to Liverpool’s run.
“And if Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold keep getting distracted by their contract talks, we could see a problem within the dressing room, possibly.
“I have no idea what Liverpool want to do with those players.
“If they don’t receive new contracts, it could be damaging to the club’s form. Chelsea, Arsenal and Nottingham Forest will keep gaining points.”
Crystal Palace have opened talks over a deal for Millwall’s Romain Esse, writes JACK ROSSER.
The winger, 19, has been tracked by the Eagles for some time.
However, after a release clause was included in his new contract earlier this year he could cost around £15million.

Newcastle have also expressed an interest in the England Under-20 international, but Eddie Howe’s men must sell before they can buy this month giving Palace an advantage.
Esse, who almost left the club for £500,000 in the summer before agreeing his new contract, has four goals and one assist in the Championship this summer.
Eagles boss Oliver Glasner wants two new signings this month.
Liverpool winger Ben Doak, on loan at Middlesbrough, was the subject of a £15m bid but the Reds are holding out for double that.
Glasner also wants to add a left-back to provide cover and competition for Tyrick Mitchell this month.
Manchester City must do “something extraordinary” if they want to sign £50million-rated Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush this month, writes MARTIN BLACKBURN.
The Egyptian, 25, is the top target for Pep Guardiola as he looks to replace Julian Alvarez and provide some support for Erling Haaland.
However Eintracht are reluctant to sell their star players as they are going well in both their domestic league and the Europa League this season.
Frankfurt have no plans to let Marmoush leave following 18 goals in 24 games this term.
Director of football Markus Krosche said: “Our basic intention is to keep the squad together.
“Something extraordinary would have to happen for us to move away from this position.”
Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich is thought to be on Liverpool's radar - as they prepare for the possibility of Real Madrid target Trent Alexander-Arnold leaving.
Paul Merson urged Arsenal to break the bank for Alexander Isak - now Teddy Sheringham hopes Manchester United attempt to do the same.
Newcastle striker Isak, rated at £150million, has hit 15 goals in 22 matches this campaign
Ex-Red Devils' forward Sheringham told BoyleSports that United were a "massive draw for any player and playing for the club is still a highlight of anyone’s career".
The former England ace added: “Would Alexander Isak consider joining United if a bid came in? Without a doubt.
“I’m not saying a deal will get done but he would be the perfect signing for United.
“He can lead the line and score goals and could be a statement signing for the new regime. He is full of confidence at the moment and could lead by example.”
Manchester United have recalled three goalkeepers from loans amid doubts over Andre Onana's form.
Onana has made significant errors under new manager Ruben Amorim, while understudy Altay Bayindir committed two major blunders in last month's Carabao Cup loss at Tottenham.
Now The Mail claim a trio of teenagers are heading back to Old Trafford from non-league clubs.
Elyh Harrison has been with Chester
Two are returning from the sixth-tier National League North.
Elyh Harrison, 18, was at Chester and 19-year-old Tom Wooster shone for Farsley Celtic.
Tom Myles, 19, enjoyed a temporary spell with seventh-level Runcorn Linnets of the Northern Premier League.
All three are expected to stay at United for the rest of the season.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils are said to be considering a replacement for Onana - but a January move is rated unlikely.

Crystal Palace are also interested in the midfielder, along with Jude’s former club Dortmund.
Although 19-year-old Jobe could cost up to £20m, Sunderland are determined to keep hold of their biggest asset as they look to maintain their Premier League promotion bid.
England star Jude joined Dortmund from Birmingham in a £30m deal in 2020.
And despite the major interest from English clubs in Jobe, it appears he could follow his sibling by looking to join a top European club to play more games at a higher level.

Chelsea legend Joe Cole reckons Marcus Rashford should quit Manchester United to "revitalise his career" - and ideally choose Serie A.
England striker Rashford has been linked with a string of clubs since losing his place under new Old Trafford chief Ruben Amorim.

Ex-Liverpool and Three Lions' midfielder Cole told Paddy Power: “It’s the right time for Marcus Rashford to move on. He’s been a wonderful player for Manchester United but he’s in a very, very difficult spell.
“It’s time for him to revitalise his career and I'd like to see him play in Italy, to be honest.
"The German league is great, but the Italian league is slightly stronger, and he could play for some great clubs.
"It’s the opposite situation to Trent Alexander-Arnold, in that if you’re Marcus, and need a change, you need to go in January.
“Manchester United have been very clear with where they want to go without him. Message heeded, go somewhere and go with fire in your belly."
