Over the winter months, it’s easy to let things slide in the garden.

As the weather gets worse, moss, algae and other plant debris can build up on every surface of your garden while we huddle indoors.

Even worse, we dread the hours of scrubbing we’ll have to do come Spring.

One cleaning whizz has shared her easy way to get rid of built up grime on your patio and porch without any fuss.

This essential tip was first shared in the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips group, after one member revealed that they been struggling to get their porch roof clean.

After trying to scrub with bleach and using a pressure washer on it, they’d even considered replacing the grey roof but received an eye-watering quote.

They told the group: “Just received a quote of £1,650 to replace just the roof as it’s so old and grubby. Last summer we jet-washed it, which didn’t really make much difference!”

Out of ideas and extra budget, they asked the group for suggestions on how to clean the corrugated plastic roof.

Thankfully, the Facebook group did not disappoint.

Though you might be tempted to use expensive specialised cleaners, such as Wet and Forget (£40), it turns out there is a household item that is just as effective.

“You’d need a lot of it but Pink Paste,” suggested one domestic goddess, who’d been able to get their space clean.

Rather than applying and scrubbing it away, the Facebook user urged the anonymous poster to use a pressure washer for extra cleaning power.

Whilst it may seem too good to be true, the experts at Discover Paving have revealed just how effect a tool it can be for banishing garden grime.

In fact, all you’ll need to overhaul your patio is a tub of The Pink Stuff, a bucket, a brush and warm water.

Following the manufacturer’s instructions, you’ll need to mix the cleaning paste and then apply a thin layer to your patio.

Gently scrub it with a long handled stiff brush and you should find that any built up grime comes away easily – especially if you apply firm pressure.

Once you’ve got most of the dirt off, you can then hose down your patio or wash it away with warm water (it really is that simple).

You won’t even have to worry about drying the space, as the experts suggest allowing it air dry over the next few hours.

This technique could save you a small fortune as Sainsbury are currently selling an 850g tub of The Pink Stuff for just £1.50.
