Erik ten Hag LIVE: Man Utd making SACK decision after winning FA Cup, midfielder set to leave EXCLUSIVE – latest

  • Eriksen exit exclusive

Christian Eriksen will be handed the chance to rejoin first club Ajax this summer — if Manchester United agree to a pay-off.

But the Danish midfielder, 32, is set to sit tight until Erik ten Hag’s future is sorted, in case his old Spurs gaffer Mauricio Pochettino comes in.

Eriksen has 12 months left on his £150,000-a-week contract but United are keen to get some of the higher earners off the books to help fund Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s planned rebuild.

Yet with no chance of players matching their Old Trafford wages elsewhere, United face using a hefty slice of the summer budget to ease them out.

  • Eriksen deal

United would not ask for a fee for Eriksen as long as that is factored into any agreement over the remainder of his contract.

  • Evans wants Ten Hag to stay

JONNY EVANS became the first Manchester United player to declare they want Erik ten Hag to stay.

after securing the second FA Cup winners’ medal of his career, he made no secret of the fact that he wants the Dutchman to remain in charge.

He was first asked if the victory could be a significant start to something under Ten Hag, to which he said: “I hope so.

“He’s been amazing for me this season, bringing me back in.

“I’ve only got good things to say about him and over the last month I think he’s showing incredible tactical flexibility.”

When asked directly if he wants Ten Hag to stay, Evans said: “He’s been amazing for me and I can only thank him for that and I have a good relationship with him.

    “So I hope he stays.”

  • Inside United's cup celebrations

Erik Ten Hag was drenched in champagne while stars sank cans of Carling after Manchester United’s FA Cup triumph.

The Red Devils beat Man City 2-1 in Saturday’s clash, sealing a second trophy in as many years while avenging last season’s defeat to their rivals.

United boss Erik ten Hag was in defiant mood when he met the media afterwards, insisting he’d “go somewhere else to win trophies” if dismissed by Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

But he was all smiles when he returned to his players in the dressing room for jubilant celebrations.

Lisandro Martinez, who also played under Ten Hag at Ajax, soaked the gaffer in champagne after uncorking a bottle.

  • Scholes raves about Mainoo

PAUL SCHOLES has claimed that Kobbie Mainoo is “ten times the player” he was at 19.

He shared an image of Mainoo slotting past Ortega on his Instagram story.

And that came with a message that read: “Read a few comparisons between me and this kid last week… don’t waste your time, he is 10 times the player I was at 19,” wrote Scholes.

“Just love the way he receives the ball, the calmness, the awareness of what’s around him and of course big goals in big games.”

Scholes finished off by saying: “This boy is special… and he’s a f***ing red.”

  • Ten Hag's x-rated outburst

ERIK TEN HAG gave an X-rated answer as he spoke following Manchester United's FA Cup victory.

The Red Devils boss did not hold back as he described a previous performance from his side.

United were thrashed 4-0 by Crystal Palace earlier this month on their way to an eight placed finish in the Premier League.

However, he hailed his team's response since that defeat after United beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final on Saturday.

Following the win, Ten Hag spoke to MUTV and was asked about his players' "brilliant" display against City.

In response, he said: "I'm proud as well, firstly for the players, the staff, they did an incredible job, and the fans. The whole season.

"I remember Crystal Palace a couple of weeks ago when we played s*** and they backed us.

"They backed us and they are incredible. I said last week after Newcastle, they are the best fans in the world so I am really grateful."

  • Ten Hag's pride

Erik Ten Hag was “like a proud father” as he embraced his two teenage Manchester United FA Cup heroes.

Fans were moved as captain Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford burst into tears after their epic triumph.

But fans were moved by more nice scenes that were caught on camera as Ten Hag, who Sir Jim Ratcliffe refused to back even after the cup victory, got hold of his two teenage matchwinners.

The clip showed the boss place a hand on each of Garnacho and Mainoo’s cheeks as he then pointed at them and pulled them both in for a cuddle as they smiled.

  • Ten Hag's defiant response

Erik Ten Hag has issued a defiant response to rumours he could be sacked by Manchester United.

The Red Devils boss' future has been in doubt for several weeks following their disappointing season.

Speaking during his post-match press conference, he explained: "Two trophies in two seasons and three finals. That’s not bad.

"If they don’t want me any more I go somewhere else to win trophies. That is what I do."

  • Ten Hag's dig at Keane

ERIK TEN HAG took a brutal dig at Roy Keane’s managerial record after guiding Manchester United to FA Cup glory.

The Dutch tactician could not resist taking a sly dig at Keane, who was working as a pundit at Wembley.

Keane said to him: “You must be proud of them, we've always questioned players about their quality at Man United, but character and leadership.

“They showed character today - which I had questioned, and a lot of people have...you shouldn't listen to them pundits anyway! Take no notice of the pundits.”

Ten Hag replied: “But you told me!”

eane, pointing at fellow pundits Ian Wright and Joleon Lescott, then joked: “No, them two!” Ten Hag hit back by saying: “You had trouble to manage a team!”

That led to Keane saying: “Ah, I won a Championship with Sunderland...give me some praise, ah come on! You're too harsh on me!”

Ten Hag then tried to explain “what I said to you” before Keane interrupted him to say “I agree” as both men smiled.

  • Ten Hag's tactical masterplan

ERIK TEN HAG’S tactical tweak outfoxed Pep Guardiola as he deployed an unsung Manchester United hero in a shock new position.

The Dutchman secured his second trophy as Man City were trumped 2-1 in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

Goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo secured victory for United on Saturday.

The Red Devils kept City at bay for most of the match, with the Premier League champions unable to make an impact until Jeremy Doku’s goal in the 87th minute.

And it was all down to a brilliant tactical tweak from Ten Hag involving fan favourite Scott McTominay.

The Scot is usually deployed as a box-to-box midfielder and occasionally even plays as a No10.

But in the FA Cup final, McTominay formed part of a front two with Bruno Fernandes.

  • Ratcliffe refuses to comment

SIR JIM RATCLIFFE refused to back Erik ten Hag following Manchester United's FA Cup triumph.

The Red Devils beat rivals Manchester City at Wembley Stadium on Saturday to lift the trophy for the first time since 2016.

As Ratcliffe walked through with INEOS director of sport Sir Dave Brailsford, a reporter asked: "Is Erik staying?"

Ratcliffe turned to acknowledge the media member but did not answer the question.

He then turned his head away and continued to walk before heading out the room through a door.

  • Ten Hag already planning

Erik Ten Hag is already planning ahead of next season for new transfers.

That's despite reports saying he is set to be relieved from his duties.

“We need to sign an extra striker in the summer,” Ten Hag told Voetbal International.

“And if we can sign another central midfielder and a replacement for Varane, things will look good again. If the team remains fit we can try and aim for top-four again.”

  • Tearful Rashford & Fernandes

Marcus and Bruno Fernandes proved how much winning the FA Cup meant to Manchester United.

Both stars played a massive role in a magnificent 2-1 victory over Manchester City at Wembley.

As the final whistle rang, the local lad broke down in tears.

  • Fernandes on Ten Hag's future.

Bruno Fernandes has revealed he hopes Erik Ten Hag will stay beyond this season.

"It is crucial for everyone," the Portuguese playmaker told BBC Sport.

"We know the manager is under so much scrutiny, he deserves this, also everyone in the backroom staff and the players, we all deserve this."

  • Picture perfect

Is this the last time Man Utd fans will see Erik Ten Hag.

Bruno Fernandes urged the Dutch tactician to join him in the celebrations with the fans.

The next 24 hours will tell us all about the ex-Ajax man's future.

  • Ten Hag on criticism

Erik Ten Hag believes he has been unfairly treated by the media.

He told Gary Lineker on BBC Sport:

    I think so.

"There was not always good football, but we have had to make compromises.

"In two years here, maybe three or four times we have had the full squad on board."

  • Ten Hag on his future

When asked by Gary Lineker on BBC Sport if this could be his last game, Erik Ten Hag said:

I don't know (if last game), only thing I am doing is develop my team thisis for me a project, when I came in it was a mess, but we are better, but by far we are not where we want to be

"I want to play the best football, dynamic football, but in the end you have to win games and win trophies.

"We had on opportunity to win one and we won the FA Cup."

  • Match report

Here, in what was likely to be his last match as Manchester United manager, was Erik ten Hag’s ‘football bloody hell!’ moment.

In one of the greatest FA Cup final upsets of recent times, Manchester City blew their chance of an historic ‘double Double’ as first-half goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo sunk Pep Guardiola’s champions.

In 135 years of English football history, no club has ever retained both the league title and the FA Cup in the same season.

And, thanks to a tactical masterclass from their Dutch manager, United gleefully wrecked the party of the one-time ‘noisy neighbours’ who have dominated them for the last decade.

  • Man Utd player ratings

Man Utd defied the odds to get the better of their imperious neighbours Manchester City and lift the FA Cup aloft.

The Red Devils were written off before a ball had even been kicked and thanks to a teenage double from Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho in the first half, they pulled off a 2-1 win.

Erik ten Hag may be leaving, but his players gave him some send off under the arch.

United looked by far and away the better team in the first half as they pounced on City's mistakes and gave the Red side of Manchetser something to sing about.

And despite a late goal from Jeremy Doku to try and pull things back at 2-0, Ten Hag's men were able to dig in and get over the line.

Here's how SunSport's Neil Custis rated each Man Utd player's performance...

  • FA Cup winners

    Peep peep!

Man Utd are the FA Cup winners!

They have beaten their noisy neighbours 2-1 at Wembley, thanks to goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo.

It's a famous victory for the Red Devils.

  • Onana's celebration

Man Utd fans said "I love this guy" after spotting Andre Onana celebrating Alejandro Garnacho's opener in the FA Cup final against Man City.

The goalie lined up between the sticks for Erik ten Hag's Red Devils in Sunday's showpiece game at Wembley.

And he was marshalling his own net down the other end of the pitch when Garnacho struck.

The Argentine celebrated immediately as pals rushed to congratulate him.

And Onana did not want to be left out as he sprinted the length of the field to join in the party.

  • 'Filthy' assist

Man Utd fans hailed "filthy" Bruno Fernandes for his classy assist for Kobbie Mainoo.

The Red Devils skipper produced a moment of magic six minutes before half-time to fire his side 2-0 in front against rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

Alejandro Garnacho - who capitalised on a defensive mix-up to put United in front on the half-hour mark - played a simple ball into Fernandes who had acres of space on the very edge of the box.

And with one, exquisite touch, the Portuguese playmaker made a first-time, no-look reverse pass to teenager Mainoo.

And the academy graduate, not picked up by Kyle Walker, opened his body to slot home in style, sparking wild scenes at Wembley.

  • Luke's an armchair fan

LUKE LITTLER revealed he was watching the FA Cup final at home "for my own safety" just days after winning the Premier League of Darts.

The teenage sensation is a major Manchester United fan and had previously said he was going to Wembley for Saturday's clash with Man City.

However, just moments before kick-off, the 17-year-old revealed he was not at the home of English football for the showpiece event.

Instead, Littler had beat a hasty retreat with his £275,000 Prem jackpot back to Warrington.
