I’m a fashionista and love my quirky style – people say I got dressed in the dark but I know better

IT is important to have your own sense of style, as your outfits often tell people a lot about who you are.

For one New Yorker though, her fashion sense is so divisive that you’ll be tempted to call the fashion police after seeing her viral videos.

Influencer Kristina Avakyan has become well known for her bizarre outfits on Tiktok, which regularly feature jogging bottoms, loud colours and multiple textures.

If that weren’t eye catching enough, the US woman will often add barely there elements with passers-by struggling to look away.

Better known as @SubwaySessions, it’s hard to categorise this fashionista’s style with it being similar to Julia Fox, Weird Barbie and a teenage boy – all at the same time.

Despite gaining over 63,000 followers in recent months, Kristina wasn’t always the center of attention on social media.

According to The Guardian, she had previously worked as a bartender but was sacked as she was ‘consistently late’ – hinting that it was because of her outlandish outfits.

Now with endless time to show off her street style, the content creator began filming short videos and used the subway as her cat-walk.

She has filmed people’s intense reactions to her outfits and asked for people’s brutal opinions.

Unsurprisingly, her outfits have shocked many passengers as she travels through New York City.

Showing a little skin doesn’t seem to faze Kristina, in fact she told the newspaper that her revealing outfits cause women to ‘hold on to their men for dear life’.

Though she did admit that she will occasionally feel ‘shy’ in front of old men, she added: "But with everyone else, I have this body and it’s part of the artwork, so why not show it off? Fat, skinny, whatever you are, confidence is part of the outfit.”

It’s not just in real life that she is making a fashion statement though, as her viral videos regularly receive comments like ‘nah she is messing with us at this point’ and ‘New York gotta be a f**ing joke’.

Others claimed that she looks like she got ‘dressed in the dark’ or that she is giving ‘Adam Sandler’ vibe, with the comedian often wearing similarly oversized shorts.

Whilst you might not rate her looks as high fashion, the influencer has developed a cult following and many believe that designer brands like Balenciaga will soon hire her as a stylist.

Though you think this might be the end goal for the content creator, Kristina actually has other goals for her viral videos.

She told The Guardian: “I’m out here doing this freaky s**t so that people can be like: ‘If she can do it, maybe I can try, too.’”

You can’t help but admire her confidence, we guess.
