I paid off £8K debt and even have savings thanks to my ‘downsize method’ – I still get to treat myself & it’s easy to do
A WOMAN has revealed the easy way she has managed to get herself out of debt, save and still give herself treats.
The savvy mum took to social media revealing the easy 'downsize method' that allows her to do so.
Beth Fuller said: "As someone who's been an £8,000 worth of credit card debt, who has had paid all off and now is in the position with emergency savings, and all of that stuff.
"I thought it might be useful to talk about how I now stop myself from having that, like, lifestyle creep."
She revealed she had a new job with a much higher salary, making her tempted to increase her spending.
However, she revealed this would only lead her down the same path of debt and financial insecurity again.

The mum went on to explain that she has wanted Invisalign for years and now she has more disposable income was tempted to bite the bullet and pay for it.
But of course, buying new teeth would mean she wouldn't be able to save as much - so she decided to think of what outgoings she has now that she can get rid of to pay for the Invisalign instead.
The 'downsize method' means Beth has to get rid of other expenses if she wants to buy something new - rather than adding another expense to her outgoings.
For her, she decided to give up her eyebrow and nail appointments, as well as eating out as regularly so that she could replace these with paying for Invisalign treatment.
Beth added: "So essentially, if I'm going to have an addition to something, I make sure I'm downsizing elsewhere.
"And that is how I stop my lifestyle creeping up and up and up and becoming beyond my means."
This means Beth can still treat herself to what she wants - while being financially smart about what she can afford.
She added that it was important to get comfortable with the idea of saying no to friends when it came to going out and socialising if you didn't have the money for it.
"It's hard to say no," Beth said.
"Not enough people say sorry, I can't afford that right now and stuff."
In other clips Beth revealed the tips she swears by to get out of debt quickly, the first being checking your bank account regularly.
She also explained that it is very important that you know where your debts are and how much you owe.
She added: “The next thing is to actually know, and maybe this comes first, but to actually know what my financial setup is.
Lastly, the mum explained that budgeting and writing lists helped her to pay off her debt.
“The next one might seem a bit weird, but for me, one thing that I really had to start to learn is that a month is actually a very short space of time," she concluded.
“So I would start my month off with all of these things that I thought I needed to buy and a lot of them were for my daughter.
“But a month is only four weeks and I've started to think instead of how short of a span of time that is. So surely not all of that is actually needed right now and I push it much longer.
“I write down what I’d love to try, and I just write it down instead of thinking that that's got to come out that month.”
The clip posted to her TikTok account @bethmfuller was a hit with viewers who took to the comments to share their thought.
One person wrote: "So true! You earn more so you spend more."
Another commented: "I’ve done this and really cut down on my monthly payments from £1,600 to £700. Little things like my phone bill. It was £75! Now £20."
Meanwhile a third said: "This is such a good way of thinking about it! Lifestyle creep is real! Whenever I’m feeling tempted to spend your videos give me a great reality check!"
