I made £400 in 4 weeks on Vinted – my simple algorithm trick makes sure posts are always seen & guarantees quick sales
A SAVVY SELLER who made over £400 on Vinted in just four weeks, has shared her top tips for making sales.
Vinted is an online marketplace where people can buy and sell second hand clothes, shoes and accessories.
It's completely free to upload clothes to the app and Vinted does not take a cut of sellers' profits and instead charges buyers a small fee to purchase each item.
Busy mum Jess loves to sell her kids' old clothes on the site, and since starting her Vinted page back in August has come up with plenty of tips to guarantee quick sales.
Algorithm Hack
Instead of whacking all of her clothes on to the site at once, jess posts two to six items a day on Vinted.
She revealed that, since Vinted orders their search results based on the newest items first, this will mean that your items always appear at the top of the site.

"That means that people will keep clicking on your stuff, and the more people that click on it, the quicker you're gonna sell your stuff," she said in a video posted to her TikTok channel.
Post Quickly
Jess' second tip is to make sure you post items as soon as you can after they have been purchased.
She advised making sure that they have been washed, and folded and are already packaged up, so that you can impress buyers with a swift delivery.
This is likely to lead to good reviews, which will make you more likely to make more sales in the future.
Accept Offers
Jess revealed that she accepts all offers from buyers, no matter what price they are offering.
She revealed that this is because if someone has made an offer on an item, they are probably looking for something specific, and have likely made similar offers to other people.
"When people are annoyed that they've accepted an offer but then the person doesn't buy it, it's probably because they bought from someone else, because you weren't quick enough," she said.
She added that if you are hesitant to accept offers because you want to make a certain amount of money from an item, price it a little bit higher, so when people give you offers, you're more likely to get the price you expected.
Jess' (@the_pilotswife) video has likely left many people impressed, as it has racked up over 749,000 views on the video sharing platform.
TikTok users raced to the video's comments section to share their thoughts.
Do you need to pay tax on items sold on Vinted?
QUICK facts on tax from the team at Vinted...
- The only time that an item might be taxable is if it sells for more than £6,000 and there is profit (sells for more than you paid for it). Even then, you can use your capital gains tax-free allowance of £3,000 to offset it.
- Generally, only business sellers trading for profit (buying goods with the purpose of selling for more than they paid for them) might need to pay tax. Business sellers who trade for profit can use a tax-free allowance of £1,000, which has been in place since 2017.
