Cortni (@theflippingnomad) customizes and renovates RVs for clients while simultaneously living a life on the road.

She revealed her top three safety tips for solo RVers in a TikTok video that are quick and easy to implement for anyone new to the way of life.

Although the designer has been doing the RV life for ten years, she has traveled solo in her fifth-wheel vehicle for the last five.

Except for one experience over that period that made her pack up and "move to the next chunk of the desert," she feels completely safe on the roads.

She first advised leaving two pairs of shoes outside your parked mobile home, instead of one because it gives the illusion of multiple people.

In addition, Cortini suggested buying a pair of used men's work boots at the thrift store to make it seem like there isn't just a woman on the property.

"Love the man boot idea. Thank you for sharing!" a woman commented.

"I do the men's boot idea at my own home," another wrote.

Similar to the tip above, she also recommended having two chairs set up outside instead of one.

Next, for an extra layer of security, she said to lock the deadbolt on your RV instead of just the handle because they are almost always keyed alike and a master key could open your vehicle.

Lastly, in case of a potential altercation, Cortni said to keep wasp spray by the front door.

The Hot Shot Wasp and Hornet Killer Spray, is available for $5.19 on Amazon.

It shoots far and could buy you some time to get away from a potential trespasser or intruder.

I live in a van and our magical toilet is a very big deal - we keep it in the shower, it completely seals off smells

Cortni shared many methods to protect yourself from a potential attack but told viewers an important message at the end of the video.

"Don't let the fear of safety hold you back from adventuring solo," she said.

If you're someone who lives alone just in general, a few of these tips could be beneficial regardless of where or how you live.

"The WASP SPRAY is definitely a good thing to have anywhere you live," a TikTok user added.

"I travel solo also and already do some of these. Will do the rest also, thanks," a viewer commented.

"Always say 'good-bye' or act like you’re talking to someone when you leave your camper," another advised.
