The transfer chase for Liverpool whizkid Ben Doak is over - for now.
The Scottish winger, 19, saw his sensational form at loan club Middlesbrough threatened when Liverpoolrejected £15m bids from bothCrystal PalaceandIpswich Townfor the teen.
A cut-off clause was inserted in the deal that took Doak to the Riverside to ensure that Boro could not be left short by Liverpool recalling the ex-Celtic ace late on in the window.
And after Doak scored a stunner on Tuesday to help secure a 2-0 win over West Brom, Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick confirmed: “The deadline has passed for Ben.
“I said all along I was calm! Obviously we’re really happy he’s here, but genuinely, it hasn’t been a big thing for us.”
In case you missed it last night, Nottingham Forest star Murillo has committed his future to the City Ground.
Brazilian defender Murillo has been exceptional for Nuno Espirito Santo's side this season and had been attracting a number of potential suitors.
But Forest have managed to tie down the 22-year-old until 2029.
Murillo said: " I’m very thankful and very happy that there are four more years to come. I’m thankful to everyone for the support – not just to me, but to my family as well.
"Everywhere I go, every shop, wherever it is, they treat my family and I really well. So, I’m very grateful for everything they do for myself and for the team. I’m sure that we’ve got a big future in front of us."
Manchester United have been offered a cut-price deal to sign Napoli star Victor Osimhen in the summer.
That is as long as they agree to sell Alejandro Garnacho to the Partenopei for a more attainable price.
According to Sky Sports, Garnacho has reached an agreement to join Napoli during the January transfer window.
However, the Red Devils haven't given the green light on a transfer that would see manager Ruben Amorim losing one of his best players amid a turbulent campaign.
According to Il Mattino, Napoli have tried to sweeten the deal by adding Osimhen into their bid.
The Italian outfit have offered Man Utd a "discount" to sign the €75million (£63.4m)-rated striker, who is currently out on loan at Galatasaray, ahead of the summer transfer window.
That is only if the Manchester giants do the same with Garnacho this month.
Napoli have tabled an opening bid of around £42m for Alejandro Garnacho, according to Fabrizio Romano.
It's claimed that the Italian club have submitted an opening bid for the Man Utd star after boss Antonio Conte had a call with the Argentine on Friday.
Manchester United are said to be holding out for more than the initial offer for one of their star players.
While it's understood that Chelsea remain in the race and are deciding internally if they should launch a bid of their own after discussions on the player's side.
Arsenal are one team said to be looking for reinforcements but none have materialised so far.
Mikel Arteta has said he is in "constant contact" with the club's hierarchy, while co-chairman Josh Kroenke is currently in the UK having arrived on Monday.
Arteta said: "We are in constant contact, obviously - understanding the situation, how the team is evolving.
"Obviously, some of the big news that we had, unfortunately, they weren’t that positive. How we’re feeling about it, they’ve been super supportive and they continue to be so."
Arsenal need a striker and have been linked with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Dusan Vlahovic and Benjamin Sesko - but nothing appears closed.
Asked if the owners will back him, Arteta replied: "First of all, it’s backing the club and themselves, you know, because we all want the best.
"The decision that we make is not to back anybody, it’s just something that makes sense, that is going to improve the squad, that is going to give us the ability to perform to a level and to win the things that we want to do.
"If that’s the case and we have the resources to do it, we will try."
Barcelona director Deco has admitted that a deal to bring Marcus Rashford to the club is not close.
He did suggest there coudl be a chance once current player contract issues are dealt with.
He said: "We are dealing with the issue of [financial] fair-play.
"In the final days, if the team can be strengthened, we will try, but as of today there is nothing.
"The priority is the renewals of the important players in the squad, and then we could focus on one or two reinforcements, but it is not something that the coach has asked of us either."
Nottingham Forest have completed a massive coup and tied down star defener Murillo to a new contract.
The Brazilian is now commited to the club until 2029.
Murillo had been linked with an exit from the City Ground with the likes of Real Madrid touted as potential destinations.
He said: "I’m very thankful and very happy that there are four more years to come. I’m thankful to everyone for the support – not just to me, but to my family as well.
"Everywhere I go, every shop, wherever it is, they treat my family and I really well. So, I’m very grateful for everything they do for myself and for the team.
"I’m sure that we’ve got a big future in front of us."
