In her viral video, Sarah Schoenlein (@sarah_ann525) explained that she took matters into her own hands after suffering reactions to store-bought deodorants.

"I have gone through the wringer for years to find a non-toxic deodorant that didn't give me a rash," the Instagrammer told her followers.

To make her "DIY non-toxic deodorant" she grated a block of beeswax into a cooking pot.

Next, Sarah added cacao butter, kokum butter, and coconut oil to the wax.

She turned the stove to medium heat and stirred the ingredients until they melted to form a smooth mixture.

For her next step, Sarah added a few drops of Vitamin E oil to the concoction.

She also added cedarwood essential oil and melaleuca to create a pleasant scent.

Next, she poured arrowroot powder into the pot and whisked it all together.

Sarah also added a small amount of cornstarch and bentonite clay powder into the mixture.

After whisking again, she poured the liquid into disposable deodorant canisters.

She allowed the mixture time to set and showed her audience the finished result.

"You can see how smooth it is, you can’t see it at all, it’s perfect," Sarah said.

NATURAL ALTERNATIVE

The herbalist explained that she was trying to steer clear of aluminum and fragrance.

She referred to fragrance as "a combination of dozens of chemicals that can have a huge disruption to your endocrine system."

Sarah filmed herself as she applied the homemade product to her "sensitive underarms."

Her followers shared their thoughts on the recipe in the comments section.

"I stopped using it many years ago. Now I just use fresh lime, it kills bacteria plus, it smells fresh," wrote one viewer.

"I would stink in about 30 minutes, I need clinical strength," joked another Instagram user.

"Don't need all of that! Just mix two spoons of coconut oil with a very small spoon of sodium bicarbonate," commented a third person.
