Hong Kong police catch 5 suspected robbers as group storms into jewellery store

The insider said officers apprehended at least four men at the scene, adding no shots were fired during the incident.

Another source said the arrests were made after officers laid an ambush for the group.

Officers have cordoned off the area as detectives gather information.

Last September, three robbers stormed VIP Station’s branch on Canton Road, smashing the glass display counters and making off with watches worth HK$3.7 million (US$473,370). They escaped in a getaway car driven by a fourth suspect.

Police later arrested several suspects including a 10-year-old boy in connection with the hold-up.
