Chocolate lovers celebrate as brownie version of iconic US snack favourite arrives on Sainsbury’s shelves
AN iconic spin-off of the iconic American campfire side treat has hit the shelves of a major supermarket.
Chocolate fiends are salivating over Sainsbury’s genius idea to cross the US marshmallow sandwich with the timeless milk chocolate brownie.
The decadent treat layers a moreish milk chocolate brownie with unctuous layers of milk chocolate and caramel sauce, digestives and scatterings of marshmallows.
Traditional s’mores are an all-American classic, made by sizzling gooey marshmallows on a stick over an open fire and smushing them when sizzled with chocolate between two biccies.
This latest offering is less divisive than Morrison’s recent launch of a s’mores-inspired pizza, which took the pineapple on pizza debate to a whole new level.
Chocoholics' mouths are already watering, as they rush to buy the “rich and delicious” indulgence for £4.25 from the major supermarket.
One wrote on social media: “My god, it looked savage, but every bite was a dream.
“Let’s get this for girls' night.”
Another wrote: “Oh my god, this looks savage, get in my belly!”
One mother of three raved: “My children were in absolute heaven, it was completely worth dealing with the sugar rush!”
Some moaned that the treat wasn’t quite authentic because it swapped the traditional American graham crackers for classic British digestive biscuits.
But most advised fellow chocolate junkies to nab the “ooey gooey” treat before it went viral and sold out.
S'mores have been a pivotal part of the American zeitgeist since 1920, with children falling in love with them at summer camps.
