I live in a tiny home – we were able to pick it up and move to another state but the unique toilet can be annoying

HOME is where the heart is - or wherever you can move yours to, apparently.

For one tiny home dweller, being able to pick up their house and take it with them is a perk, but there can also be some stinky situations along the way.

Redditor Sbayz92 explained how perhaps the best thing about living in a small space is that they are able to easily relocate.

"I've lived in mine for four years now. First two years by myself and the last half with my wife," they said.

"We are moving the tiny house up to Oregon this summer from California," they continued.

They explained that the home was a "great setup" for their lifestyle.

"I travel four plus months a year," they said.

"Also, it's nice not to have a huge mortgage to pay while gone - pay $400 a month," they continued.

They explained how they have "saved" by owning the house and renting the land - all five acres of it.

While pondering a move to the West Coast, they considered investing in a more traditional home but realized it was a bit out of their budget.

"We tried looking for a few months, but the market is way too crazy and expensive right now," they said.

"Total waste of time and frankly, wouldn't have been worth it," they continued.

I won’t pay a penny in rent after transforming a trailer at the bottom of my parents’ garden into a tiny home - it only cost me £5k to do too

Instead, they decided to stay true to their tiny home for at least the next few years.

"Our house will be 20 minutes from my parent's house and closer to our friends," they said.

"My suggestion would be to go tiny if you travel a lot, are looking to save money, or don't want to rent/own a foundation home," they continued.

"Oh - and most importantly, if you have somewhere to put it."

Still, not everything is fair in love and tiny home living.

They weren't a fan of their annoying compost toilet - it might be environmentally-friend, but it was a hassle to clean out

Some of the biggest drawbacks included their bathroom situation.

"Dealing with composting toilets gets annoying," they said.

A composting toilet is able to turn solid waste into compost, according to Green Matters.

The device creates an "oxygen-rich" environment, allowing bacteria to break down waste.

You will be saving water, but you will also have to empty the waste container - by hand.

They also complained about a lack of privacy - and storage.

They did, however, find a solution by using an outdoor storage shed.

Another Redditor was thankful for the insider advice.

"This is kind of what I've been wondering - if I should aim for a tiny house or a downpayment on a home once I have a more stable income. I also live in California," said one Redditor.
